First phase of Bath’s newest community, now fully occupied

Bath’s newest neighbourhood, Holburne Park, is home to a thriving new community with phase one of the development now fully occupied.

Just one of the 60 classically designed, contemporary houses in phase one remains for sale and homes in phase two are already proving popular, with construction well underway.

Combining the very best of modern living and high specification interiors with the elegant classical style that Bath is famous for, once complete, Holburne Park will provide 200 new homes with the first phase made up of three-bedroom homes and four-bedroom townhouses, together with 81 affordable homes. The latest phase, currently being built, will offer a range of classically styled homes from four-bedroom townhouses to six-bedroom detached villas.

Two thirds of the people who have bought and moved into properties in phase one are from Bath and the surrounding area and are evenly spread across age groups with a mixture of families, young professionals and retired couples and individuals.

Most people are moving to Holburne Park for lifestyle reasons – for example access to local schools, seeking more space for a growing family or downsizing after families have left home, according to questionnaires completed by purchasers.

Whatever the reason, many new residents say the benefits of being close to the city, whilst also enjoying a village-like feel in a green setting, have been a big draw for them.

Arranged in sweeping terraces of detached, semi-detached and terraced homes, buyers have been wowed by the beautiful Bath stone facades which have been designed to fit seamlessly with the heritage architecture of the city. The period detailing made from locally sourced stone will gently mellow with age and blend into the hillside.

The interiors have been designed by a local designer from Honeycombe Interiors to create exceptional places fit for modern living. Many of the homes feature flexible living spaces as well as formal living rooms, open plan designs and garages or parking spaces.

Francis Firmstone, director of Hardrock Developments Ltd says:
“One of the main features of Holburne Park is that it offers a variety of sizes and styles of home, all classically designed and arranged in an elegant but also village-like setting. So I am really delighted to see such a range of buyers moving in, from first time buyers to retirees, helping us to create a real community.
“Feedback we are getting is that lots of our buyers are enjoying the classical design and character of a period-style property but without the burden of upkeep that comes with an actual period property. They’re telling us Holburne Park offers the best of both worlds.”

Set in a hillside location off Warminster Road and offering expansive views over the surrounding Charlcombe Valley, the homes are a short stroll from the picturesque Kennet and Avon canal. Surrounded by greenery and big open skies, they are also within easy reach of the vibrant city centre.

Vicky Dudbridge, Director at Savills said: “These stylish homes are appealing to a whole range of people, from those moving from London to locals who want to move out of the centre of Bath. Because Holburne Park has this outstanding location in the countryside but close to the city, it offers the best of urban and rural living in one.”

Phase two homes are now for sale.
