Building a new Community

To celebrate the creation of the new community here at Holburne Park, we’re proud to be sponsoring one of Minerva’s Owls – this summer’s sculpture trail that promises to get Bath all of a flutter.

We swooped at the chance to be involved in this brilliant project and we’ve teamed up with local artist and former mask maker, Josie Bahar, to create an owl that reflects the classic design of Holburne Park.

Named ‘Golden Civetta,’ the stunning owl is decorated with gold, copper and silver leaf – a real labour of love according to Josie – and will be perched upon its own Bath stone plinth at the entrance to Holburne Park.

Gleaming in the sunshine, it’s sure to attract the attention of passers-by and the team here are looking forward to welcoming many bird-watchers from the city and beyond.

Nature lovers can wander along the beautiful Kennet and Avon canal or stroll through the grounds of the nearby Holburne Museum before coming across our classically-beautiful owl.

Over 80 owl sculptures will appear in and around Bath from 25 June to 10 September before being auctioned to raise money for local charities. The owls are inspired by Minerva, the Roman goddess of wisdom, to whom the Roman Baths were dedicated in the 1st century AD and whose symbol is the owl of wisdom. A stone carving of Minerva’s owl can be see at the Roman Baths Museum.
